The New Teachers Conference takes place October 2–3 at the Best Western Premier Calgary Plaza Hotel. It is open to teachers living south of Red Deer who are in their first two years of classroom teaching or are new to teaching in Alberta. Reach out to the local treasurer to arrange reimbursement.

The Alberta Teachers’ Association New Teacher Conference will take place October 2–3, 2026, at the Best Western Premier Calgary Plaza Hotel and Conference Centre.
The conference is designed for teachers who are in their first two years of classroom teaching or who are new to teaching in Alberta. It provides an opportunity for early-career teachers from southern Alberta to participate in professional learning, connect with colleagues and build a network of support beyond their own schools and communities.
Participants can expect a welcoming environment focused on the experiences and needs of beginning teachers. The conference offers time to learn, exchange ideas and connect with other educators who are navigating similar opportunities and challenges during the early years of their careers.
The conference is open to eligible teachers working south of Red Deer. Local 5 members who are interested in attending should contact the Local 5 treasurer before registering to confirm reimbursement arrangements and eligible expenses.
